My Bike Story

My Bike Story

Before I bought a bike I lost one! My fathers bike. I was in Shimla in Class 6. I parked my bike and it got stolen. The next I remember was a bike (OG in colour) given to me by NDA. Each cadet is issued a bike. I had a love hate relationship with this bike for the three years I owned (no, had) one. I loved it when I rode it to rush to classes – indoors or outdoors. I hated it when it rode me. We usually had to lift the bike over our heads as a punishment. I also hated when we got into the ‘valve chori’ mode. (Ex NDAs will know what this means). The next i remember was a green sport Atlas bicycle I bought with all my love and care in 1971 when I was a Lieut in Bihar Regiment Centre Dinapore. It was my second love, as my sight was on a Yezdi bike I was dreaming of. The Atlas bike served me so loyally till I got a Yezdi and divorced my Atlas for Yezdi.
